Valor catastral
The administrative value of the property set by the cadastre, used as the base for several taxes.
The valor catastral is the value assigned to a property by the administration (the Catastro), generally well below its market value. It serves as the calculation base for the IBI (property tax), the plusvalía municipal and other local taxes.
It breaks down into a land value and a building value, a distinction that matters in particular for the plusvalía, which is based on the land alone.
