Empadronamiento

Registration on your municipality's list of residents, used to prove where you live.

The empadronamiento is your registration on the Padrón municipal, the list of residents kept by the town where you live. The empadronamiento certificate is used to prove your address for many administrative procedures.

It is useful to a buyer settling in — for schooling, healthcare or resident status — but it is not proof of ownership.

For the seller

The empadronamiento is not a condition of the sale, but a buyer moving in will want to register promptly at the town hall of their new municipality.
