ITP
The purchase tax on resale homes, paid by the buyer, at a rate that varies by region.
The ITP is the tax paid by the buyer when acquiring a second-hand home, that is, a resale between private individuals. Its rate varies by autonomous community, generally in the region of 6 to 10% of the price.
It applies in place of IVA: a new-build sold by a developer falls under IVA, a second-hand property falls under ITP.
For the seller
The ITP costs you nothing directly — the buyer pays it — but a high regional rate weighs on their overall budget and therefore on how much they can offer.
